Introduction
The Manitoba Water Services Board (MWSB), a crown corporation, has been providing technical and financial assistance in the development of safe, affordable and sustainable water and wastewater infrastructure to rural Manitobans for over 60 years. MWSB programs and services are implemented by the Water Services Branch (Branch).
Conditions of Employment :
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must be registered as P.Eng. with the Association of Engineers and Geoscientists Manitoba (EGM), or eligible to transfer from a reciprocating Engineering Association within three months. A registered Engineering Intern may be considered as an underfill candidate
- Must have ability to work outdoors in both winter and summer in extreme temperatures.
- Must be able to travel within the Province of Manitoba by ground and air, which may require overnight stays
- Must be available to work overtime and on weekends as needed
- Must have a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's license and able to provide a satisfactory Driver's abstract
Qualifications : Essential :
Undergraduate degree in Engineering (e.g. Civil, Environmental, Biosystems, Mechanical, or Electrical) & registration as a P.Eng. with the Association of Engineers and Geoscientists Manitoba (EGM), or eligible to transfer from a reciprocating Engineering Association within three months. A registered Engineering Intern may be considered as an underfill candidateExperience (scope-of-practice) in water and / or waste water treatment technologies, drinking water infrastructure and preventative maintenance activitiesStrong analytical, troubleshooting / problem solving and decision-making skillsExperience reading and interpreting construction plans, specifications and contract documentsExperience undertaking technical review with a sound understanding of water treatment principles and conceptsStrong project management experienceStrong verbal communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with internal and external contactsEffective written communication skills including ability to prepare technical and non-technical correspondence and reportsKnowledge of and experience with appropriate industry software tools and technology to successfully complete assignments / projectsDesired :
Experience supervising staff (including but not limited to coaching, performance management, assigning work duties, etc)Knowledge of Workplace Safety and Health work practicesKnowledge of applicable Federal, Provincial and Municipal Acts and RegulationsDuties : The Maintenance Engineer provides technical support, advice, supervision (direct and indirect), and investigates and resolves issues in association with the operations of MWSB operated water treatment and supply systems that provide safe drinking water to various water cooperatives and municipalities in rural Manitoba. The engineer provides input in design, operation and policy development, provides project management support, and develops innovative alternatives across all program areas of the Branch and MWSB.
