Overview
The Production Supervisor is responsible for the daily activity and performance for their specific operations area and the development, leadership and management of the associated staff. The Production Supervisor will lead by example supporting alignment with all functional groups, Safety, Environment, Land, Manufacturing, and Quality to drive communication and consistency. Primary focus is optimizing operational safety & performance and labour management to achieve the highest productivity at the lowest cost of production. Ensures Lafarge is viewed as a valued member of the industry and local communities in which it operates.
Responsibilities : Safety Culture :
- Promote safety culture through engagement with employees, JHSC and subcontractors with an objective of developing a “think before you act” culture.
- Work with Safety and Shift managers to administer, promote and review safety policies, processes and procedures to maintain relevance while ensuring the site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
- Assist in the implementation and management of all local and regional safety initiatives, providing feedback as necessary.
Human Resources :
Administer and manage local collective and hourly working agreements with site employees.Directly responsible for the motivation, scheduling and training of all production personnel to promote customer focus, operational efficiency and skill development.Production Management :
Implement and track maintenance, production processes and strategies to achieve targeted Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).Employ daily communication process with management and Quality to drive group efficiencies, manage inventories and production performance.Financial Management :
Assist in planning, driving and tracking financial performance with local / regional tools, develop, implement and manage annual labour budgets.Support sales / logistics with balancing inventory and sales needs to manage and minimize working capital impact.Customer Focus :
Assist with inventory reconciliation while balancing inventory levels in order to meet local demand.Schedule and assist logistics, quality and maintenance staff to optimize production, load out efficiencies and product quality.Land Management :
Ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.Implement and management of a sustainable mining plan with detailed stripping, production phasing and rehabilitation forecasts to ensure reserve optimization, while managing community impact.Environmental Management :
Ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.Implement and manage operational standards to manage activities and mitigate our environmental impact.Community Relations :
Support effective relationships within the community by participating in local activities / events and through partnerships with local associations and the business community.Relationships with Others Functions :
Reports directly to Production ManagerWorks closely with Production Manager, Logistics Manager, Fixed Maintenance Supervisor, Mobile Shop Supervisor, Safety Supervisor, and supports others on Union issuesKey Accountabilities :
Safety / Environment : Ensure site and production staff comply with government / Lafarge policies / procedures, Facilitate monthly safety meetings and toolbox talks, Incident reporting - Near Miss, MVA’s, FA’s, MI’s, LTI’sHR : Development, training and management of front line employees, Administration of local Union agreementProduction : Manufacturing KPI’s, Daily Shifters Report, scheduling of employees and assets for production & shipping (load / unload) functions, Daily production meetings, assist with co-ordination of blasting activitiesFinancial : Assist with the development of annual Labour / production budgetCustomer Focus : Inventory reconciliation10 Hour work days plus weekend work is expectedDimensions :

Qualifications : Education :
Grade 12 diplomaUniversity or college degree preferredShifters Card / Pit Boss Certification preferredExperience and Skill Set :
Minimum of 7 years’ production and supervisory experienceMinimum of 5 years’ supervisory experience preferredComputer knowledge in Excel, Word, PowerPointKnowledge of Mines ActRecognized safety trainingExperience in administration of Collective AgreementsAs part of our dedicated focus on the health and safety of all employees, a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing and a criminal record check, will be required.
