The Flight Simulator Technician is a full-time, permanent position located in Southport, MB and reports to the Flight Simulator Supervisor.
Their primary focus is to provide maintenance and engineering services to ensure continued operation of all on-site Flight Training Devices (FTD) equipment, and associated devices.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Conduct operational and maintenance routines as per manufacturer’s standards and Transport Canada guidelines required for certification of FTD equipment
- Respond to customers’ training needs in a courteous and timely manner in order to ensure that the required reliability and training levels are maintained
- Prepare and maintain required simulator documentation, records and reports
- Diagnose simulator malfunctions in a timely manner and flight test digital flight simulators and motion systems to ensure serviceability
- Modify digital flight simulators by making required hardware changes
- Adjust and repair simulator components and peripherals
- Report any safety hazards observed in work area, equipment, and / or building in a timely manner

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Completion of an acceptable training program in electrical / electronics technology, or a suitable combination of education, training and / or experience, including civilian / military electronics, or related technical experience.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Experience with flight simulators and / or aircraft systems an asset
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Experienced in analysing, diagnosing and resolving technical problems
- Excellent customer focus and service delivery skills
- An understanding of computer systems architecture an asset
- Ability to work on own
- Advanced IT knowledge including FORTRAN, C++ programming, MS Windows Server and UNIX operating systems considered an asset.
- Experience with visual projection systems and image generators and peripherals an asset
Proficient user of :
- MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Basic office equipment (Computer, copier, etc.)
- Eligible to obtain an Enhanced Reliability Clearance by the Canadian Industrial Security Directorate
