POSITION INFORMATION :

Full-time Support Staff Position Opportunity

Payband : G; Starting Rate : $32.42; Four Year Rate : $37.57

Department : Faculty of Business

Hours : 40 hours per week (1) one hour lunch; Mon – Fri (scheduled between 7 : 300 am – 9 : 30pm)

Reporting To : Spa Manager, Faculty of Business

Campus Location : Oshawa

Reporting to the Durham College Spa Manager, the technologist will receive shipments, acquire quotations, track and organize inventory, coordinate and prepare equipment, and other supplies as appropriate for the support of scheduled clinic practical and laboratory courses in the Cosmetic Techniques and Management, Esthetician-Spa Management and Massage Therapy programs (CTMG, ESMG and MAST).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

DC Spa Operations and Maintenance

  • Conduct regular facility inspections to identify and address general equipment and maintenance issues, use public health-approved cleaning and disinfecting solutions and protocols to maintain infection prevention and control standards to ensure the DC spa personifies professional industry standards.
  • Maintains program lab surfaces, equipment and furniture according to manufacturer's instructions and public health requirements in 3 dedicated labs, including manicure / massage tables, esthetic facial machines, make-up artistry equipment, esthetic beds, pedicure foot stations, hydro-collator, hot stone, wax, paraffin heaters and other small equipment used to deliver services and curriculum.
  • The incumbent oversees the students assigned to spa operations as needed during public operational times as directed by the spa manager.
  • Receives, systematically organizes and restocks program, spa consumables and retail products for the DC Spa boutique.
  • Assists with maintaining the spa welcome area and the retail boutique shelves by organizing, dusting, repositioning and restocking shelves to support student-learning outcomes.
  • Ensureslinens are available for DC Spa lab, On-Campus clinic and placement hours and labs are stocked with the appropriate supplies before delivery of services and relevant lab courses.
  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance with minimal interruption to lab schedules to ensure CTMG, ESMG, and MAST program equipment is in good working order.
  • Accountable for monitoring CTMG, ESMG and MAST labs during open lab time for compliance with spa operating procedures and health and safety requirements.
  • Maintains logs and other documentation and reports all incidents or accidents to the Spa manager daily and weekly.
  • Assists with maintaining spa software for inventory client records, software updates.
  • Customer Service

  • Conducts laboratory setup, breakdown, and storage of supplies and equipment following systems in place before, in between classroom instruction, spa treatments and events.
  • Provide technical assistance to faculty, staff and students by demonstrating the operation of equipment and explaining spa-operating procedures, supplies and solutions used for cleaning and disinfection.
  • Plan and coordinate the occasional movement of CTMG, ESMG, and MAST equipment and supplies from one location to another to support off-campus placements and events.
  • Stay apprised of product knowledge, equipment functional requirements, current spa rates, service offerings and all promotions.
  • Market and sell services where appropriate to maximize the student experience, revenues and yield management business plan.
  • Assist Spa Manager with tours for all external stakeholders to promote positive community relations and partnerships.
  • Effectively resolve guest / faculty / student complaints relating to operational aspects of the spa and communicate with the Spa Manager regarding issues and resolutions.
  • Administrative

  • Tracks and monitors spa inventory to ensure appropriate levels of products are on hand for delivery of spa client services, curriculum, and retail selling.
  • Assist with supply procurement by coordinating purchases for inventory, instructional and DC Spa supply replenishment by sourcing and obtaining competitive quotes before creating web requisitions for the spa manager’s approval.
  • Assist with spa reception duties as required, booking and confirming client appointments, collecting payments, answering calls and emails, and entering client information into the spa’s software.
  • Maintain equipment and facility. SDS and disinfecting solution logs demonstrate due diligence for infection control and prevention and health and safety to ensure the DC Spa facility complies with public health standards.
  • Maintain WHMIS labelling requirements for all generic refillable consumable products used throughout the DC Spa facility and during program-related activities.
  • Track spa & onsite program linen usage, coordinate pick-up, and delivery times for processing to coincide with the needs of the DC Spa and on-campus placement hours.
  • Records and processes LPOs and packing slips for all orders of ESMG, CTMG, MAST and the DC Spa.
  • Other Duties

  • Assists Spa manager and program coordinators with open house, information sessions, social media special Durham College Spa promotional activities and other duties as assigned.
  • Accountable for coordinating student employee activities ensuring all job requirements and standards are met as directed by the Spa Manager.
  • QUALIFICATIONS :

    1.A minimum of a 2-year diploma or equivalent in Esthetician Spa Management, .

    2.A minimum of 1-2 years of operational work experience in aspa environment.

    3.Possesses an up-to-date CPR, First Aid, and WHMIS certifications.

    4.Exceptional office administration and customer service skills.

    5.Knowledge of WHMIS, Public Health standards and Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements, as well as demonstrated experience in the spa or wellness industry.

    6.Experience working with industry equipment, facilities, and inventory control, spa oroperating systems and maintenance protocols.
