Job description

Job Title : Safety Manager

Location : Ponoka, Alberta or Edmonton, Alberta

Job Summary :

Our client is seeking a certified Safety Manager to lead the health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs for both their manufacturing plant and field operations. This role requires a proactive and team-oriented individual who can foster a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with all safety regulations. Ideal candidates will bring experience in manufacturing or construction, with a willingness to travel three to four times per month.

Key Responsibilities :

Safety Leadership and Compliance :

  • Develop, implement, and oversee HSE policies and procedures to meet or exceed regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards and other relevant regulations.
  • Act as a safety advisor for all plant and field operations, promoting best practices across the organization.

Training and Education :

  • Conduct safety training programs for employees, contractors, and leadership to ensure awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Lead regular emergency preparedness drills and provide ongoing education about safety trends and updates.
  • Incident Management and Reporting :

  • Investigate and document workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records for audits and compliance purposes.
  • Travel and Field Oversight :

  • Conduct on-site safety inspections and assessments for field operations.
  • Support field teams in implementing and maintaining safety standards.
  • Collaboration and Team Engagement :

  • Collaborate with leadership and operations teams to ensure safety is prioritized and integrated into all processes.
  • Encourage employee engagement and accountability in safety practices, fostering a team-oriented culture.
  • Qualifications :

  • Certification : Must hold a recognized safety certification, such as Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or equivalent.
  • Experience : Experience in manufacturing or construction is preferred. Candidates with strong potential and certification will also be considered, including confident junior professionals.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
  • Travel : Willingness to travel up to 3–4 times per month for field operations.
  • Compensation and Benefits :

  • Base Salary : $100,000 annually.
