Scope
The City of Surrey's Parks, Recreation and Culture Department is recruiting for an Arena Maintenance Worker 1. This involves custodial and technical work in an arena facility, with a primary focus on maintenance. The role includes regular interaction with the public to support facility services and works under supervision for both routine responsibilities and new assignments.
Responsibilities
•Monitors ice plant.
•Operates ice resurfacer.
•Performs janitorial duties.
•Observes, records and completes reports on equipment and buildings.
•Responds to public inquiries with professionalism and tact, while maintaining positive public relations.
•Keeps accurate records, including, but not limited to: daily log of activities, equipment usage reports and material usage reports.
•Use computer applications as required.
•Performs related work as required.
Qualifications
Successful candidates will have:
•Completion of grade 10 and some relevant work experience including experience dealing with the public or customers.
•Refrigeration Safety Awareness Certificate.
•Emergency First Aid Safety Oriented Course (or equivalent) - required before the completion of probation period.
•Valid BC Driver's license.
•Strong public relation skills and building maintenance skills.
•Solid knowledge of the materials, methods, and equipment used in janitorial and building maintenance work, along with basic computer proficiency.
Other Information
Pay Grade: Schedule "D"
Hourly Rate: $31.56
Conditions of Employment
This position requires completion of a Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
