Salary :   $50,669 - $63,336 annually : To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy

Shifts : Monday-Friday

Status :   Temporary Full Time (1 year contract)

Position Summary

The Hakem Lab is seeking to fill a full-time position for a Research Technician I to perform experiments within the field of Molecular and Cellular Biology. Our research program is focused on understanding the mechanisms of cancer and identification of novel cancer therapies.

Duties

  • Genotype and manage our mouse colony.
  • Perform molecular biology assays including PCR, RT-PCR, DNA cloning and mutagenesis.
  • Perform Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence.
  • Cell culture and transduction with shRNA and Crispr gRNA lentiviruses.
  • Maintain detailed records of ALL experimental data.
  • General lab management.

Qualifications

  • At minimum, Completion of a BSc degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry or related discipline is required
  • At minimum, six (6) months of demonstrated research experience is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent organization, and ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to work under pressure with attention to detail and perform multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Can work well both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to perform duties professionally and courteously and produce high-quality results while meeting deadlines by UHN standards.
  • Ability to understand and comply with regulatory issues involving animal subjects.
  • Highly self-motivated
