This role ensures high standards of care while aligning with GEM Health Care Group's mission, values, and strategic plan. In the absence of the Administrator / Director of Health Care Services, the Nursing Services Manager assumes responsibility and acts as a designate leader.

Responsibilities

Staff Leadership & DevelopmentTrain, onboard, and mentor staffSupport performance evaluations for RNs and LPNsAssist with staff investigations and disciplinary actionsPromote a culture of safety and teamworkResident CareOversee resident care coordination and improvement initiativesOrganize resident care conferencesAudit resident files, records, and confidentialityEnsure compliance with policies, standards, and guidelinesDevelop and implement new policies and proceduresOperations and ComplianceManage admissions, discharges, and transfersLiaise with external regulatory bodiesOversee infection control and wound careLead department goal-setting and quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or Bachelor of Nursing from an accredited schoolCurrent registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses as a Registered Nurse (RN)Standard First Aid & CPR certificationMinimum 3 years of clinical experienceAt least 2 years of management experienceExperience in teaching or facilitating adult educationExperience in continuing care (preferred)Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety, Quality Management, Wound Management and / or Infection Control (an asset)
