A Day in the Life at Bayshore :
The Occupational Health Registered Practical Nurse will be responsible for managing employee illness / injury related absences and supporting return to work processes. This role will work closely with the Manager to develop, implement, maintain, and evaluate occupational health program initiatives and lead health promotion and wellness activities.
Prime Responsibilities :
- Supports Health and Safety, Client Services and Human Resources with the return-to-work process following work-place illness / injury, as needed
- Implement policies, procedures, and processes to meet national and provincial standards and support the overall Occupational Health program
- Lead initiatives to mitigate organizational and employee risk related to occupational / non-work-related illness / injury absences, return to work and medical accommodation
- Support management of the process regarding confidential employee health records, ensuring compliance to legislative guidelines and best practice standards
- Perform risk assessments and provide appropriate intervention and reporting
- Support employees on medical leave and ensure appropriate medical documentation is received in a timely manner and as per the policy
- Support leaders to develop and implement timely return-to-work plans for non-occupational absences
- Collaborate with leadership to manage requests for medical accommodation
- Support employees on Long Term Disability and liaise with Insurance Carrier promoting early, and safe return to work initiatives.
- Support and educate employees on Employee Assistance Program and counseling as needed
- Provides first aid for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
- Offering health teaching / coaching, including designing and presenting health promotion materials
- Provide wellness services such as administering flu shot clinics and presenting health promotion materials
- Host nurse orientation for newly hired team members
