Overview
The National Diabetes Trust is Canada’s largest charitable clothing and small household good collection service. With more than 5,000 donations bins and an active home pick-up service in communities across Canada (excluding Quebec), we collect unwanted gently used clothing and household items, using them to raise funds for Diabetes Canada. This role includes a signing bonus and part-time hours.
Signing bonus : $750
Hourly Wage : 19
Part Time : Up to 29 hours per week. A consistent schedule will be developed in collaboration with operational needs.
Charitable Donations Pickup Driver Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role will drive established routes to collect donated clothing and household items from customers’ homes and designated charity donation bins, delivering items to Corporate Partners and storage facilities up to 29 hours per week.

Responsibilities
Understand and promote the mission of the National Diabetes Trust to the public and volunteersMaintain knowledge of organization goals, services, programs, and structureOperate vehicles in compliance with laws and in a safe, responsible mannerConduct pre- and post-trip inspectionsComplete and submit necessary paperwork daily, including Hours-of-Service logsCarry required documentation : valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, CVOR / National Safety Code docs, vehicle inspection, and Hours of Service recordsCheck in with dispatch at the start, mid-day, and end of the routeProvide donor with an appropriate message cardLog all pickups accurately and unload merchandise as instructedReturn all equipment to the office at day endReport route discrepancies to dispatchEnsure only authorized personnel ride in the truckParticipate in required NDT driving education and proceduresAdditional duties as needed to support OperationsAbout You
Grade 12 Education or equivalentAbility to read maps and handle 10–50 lb loadsAbility to drive a 3-Ton (16 ft) straight truckStrong organizational skills and ability to map efficient routesProfessional, positive image and strong communication with a diverse audienceCalm, customer-focused approach to upset clientsAbility to follow written or verbal instructions and maintain a professional demeanorGood command of English; superior customer service skillsMust have Full Class 5 and / or G license or higher (passenger car or light truck)Minimum of 5 years driving experience at the above level; 2 years if possessing professional commercial vehicle trainingClean driver abstract (less than 21 days old) with no violations or accidents within the last 3 yearsDiversity, Equity and Inclusion Statement
