The Ministry of the Energy and Resources requires an energetic, self-motivated individual to join the staff as a Petroleum Development Officer in Kindersley, SK for a permanent full-time position.
You will be part of a team responsible for reviewing technical applications, inspections, compliance audits, and enforcement work in an assigned area. You will be able to work independently while providing administration support for the Petroleum and Natural Gas (PNG) Technicians and the Regional Manager. Data management and entry will be a major component of the position. You will be required to utilize the Integrated Resource Information System (IRIS) database in order to facilitate application, inspection and various other workflow processes. Daily office administration tasks will also be expected to be completed. You will be required to exercise sound judgment in relation to the application of legislation, regulations and Ministry policy and standards for drilling and production in relation to local conditions. You will collect and compile information to aid PNG Technicians to identify, investigate and make recommendations and / or take appropriate action to resolve incidents or inquiries related to the oil and gas industry. Field work may become available as experience progresses and based on individual assessment.
Our candidate of choice will bring knowledge of legislation, policies and programs that govern the oil and gas industry, as well knowledge of the upstream petroleum and natural gas industry. You will have strong communication skills in dealing with a variety of stakeholders, industry and coworkers.
The knowledge required for this position would typically be obtained through a technology diploma, engineering or science degree, or an equivalent combination of related education, training and experience.
