Job Title : Space Planner

Location : North York – 80% Remote, 20% On-Site

Job Type : Full-Time

Job Summary :

We are seeking a highly creative and detail-oriented Space Planner to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing visual merchandising strategies that enhance the in-store shopping experience. This role requires strong collaboration with merchants, hands-on work with fixtures and displays, and frequent travel to retail locations to ensure consistency in branding and execution. The successful candidate will be analytical, self-driven, and detail-focused, with a strong understanding of store layout optimization and visual storytelling.

Key Responsibilities :

Visual Merchandising & Design :

  • Work directly with merchants to translate product information into engaging visual displays.
  • Develop and test merchandising designs at the Innovation Centre before implementation.
  • Make design decisions regarding display elements, considering weight, size, and durability.
  • Utilize Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to create display concepts and merchandising layouts.
  • Ensure consistency in visual merchandising execution across multiple retail locations.
  • Coordinate the setup and teardown of store displays and assess their effectiveness.
  • Stay up to date on retail industry trends and competitor strategies to drive innovation in displays.

Data & Store Optimization :

  • Analyze sales data and customer behavior trends to improve store layouts and display strategies.
  • Identify discrepancies in merchandising execution and recommend solutions to optimize performance.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, operations, and category management.
  • Qualifications & Skills :

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Visual Merchandising, Retail Design, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in visual merchandising, retail display design, or space planning.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop for merchandising design.
  • Strong Excel skills (including functions such as VLOOKUP).
  • Ability to identify inconsistencies in data and improve store layout strategies.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle for site visits.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience in home improvement, retail, or big-box store environments.
  • Familiarity with store branding, retail marketing trends, and sustainability practices in retail display.
  • Understanding of customer shopping behavior and visual storytelling principles.
  • Work Schedule & Expectations :

  • The role is 80% remote, 20% on-site, but candidates must be available to work in the office as needed.
  • Candidates should be self-accountable, proactive, and able to adhere to a structured work schedule.
  • This position requires a hands-on approach to working with store fixtures and displays.
