Job Summary :

Heavy equipment / truck and coach mechanic is responsible for servicing and maintaining all company equipment, including light vehicles, heavy trucks and equipment, hydraulics, electrical and heavy power trains. This position may require some service calls off site or emergency on-road repairs requiring diagnosis and rectification of the problem.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Check heavy construction equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults

and malfunctions.

  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of
  • repair required.

  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power
  • tools.

  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers’
  • specifications.

  • Perform pre and post vehicle inspections ensuring safety and road worthiness.
  • Perform routine maintenance and keep maintenance reports and documentation.
  • Operate equipment when needed.
  • Attend daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections.
  • Respond to after-hours emergency calls as required.
  • Perform duties within the guidelines of company policies, procedures and standards and ensure full
  • compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.

  • Perform additional duties and special projects as required.
  • Qualifications :

  • Red Seal License
  • Experience in repairing hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Experience with diagnostic software and electronic document / time keeping.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. AZ / DZ License an asset.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation including the Ontario Health and Safety Act.
  • Good interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to deal with changing priorities daily and multitask.
  • Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed.
  • Must be able to perform physical work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work long hours and weekends.
  • Travel to off site locations may be required.
  • Overtime as required.
