Position Overview
Under the general direction of the Chief Power Engineer and Maintenance Manager and in accordance with the requirements of the Provincial Licensing Standard Is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance and repair of high pressure boilers, refrigeration compressors, air compressors, diesel engines and generators, electric motors, pumps, turbines and all related equipment necessary to supply and deliver steam, chilled water, compressed air, emergency power, and fire main loop high pressure water to meet the requirements of the Centre.
A 2nd class power engineer may work as either Charge Engineer or Maintenance/Relief Engineer: As Charge Engineer, he/she is in charge of plant operation as per the Power Engineers Act, and may perform minor maintenance and emergency repair within the Central Energy Plant. As Maintenance/Relief Engineer, he/she performs assigned maintenance work, and relieves the regular Charge Engineer when he/she is absent. Provides assistance to the Charge Engineer as required.
