Government Relations Consultant

StrategyCorp is seeking a Government Relations Consultant to join our Ottawa team.

The Role

The successful candidate will bring first-hand knowledge of federal and provincial governments and national politics, along with a passion for tackling complex policy issues. You are a strategic thinker who combines strong research and analytical skills with clear, effective communication.

Key Responsibilities and QualificationsRequired Experience

• 2–3 years of relevant work experience
• Experience in public policy development
• Familiarity with major public policy issues and the Canadian political landscape

Core Competencies

• Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex issues into clear, concise materials
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
• Sound judgment and decision-making within scope of responsibility
• Ability to take initiative and work independently
• Strong project management skills: able to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage multiple assignments with minimal supervision
• Excellent research skills using a range of online and offline sources
• Ability to work collaboratively under tight deadlines and pressure
• Professional client service skills, including experience interacting with clients, elected officials, and government or political staff
• Solid understanding of the machinery of government (municipal, provincial, and federal), as well as the public and private sectors
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
