Role Description

The Principal Electrical Engineer Ports based in Halifax Canada will provide senior technical leadership and expertise on major port and maritime infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for ensuring high technical standards guiding multidisciplinary teams and delivering innovative sustainable and safe electrical engineering solutions for port clients. Acting as a subject matter expert the Principal Engineer will play a key role in integrating digital tools and sustainable practices into project delivery while also supporting the growth and reputation of the ports practice in Eastern Canada.

Role Responsibilities

In this position you will oversee the electrical engineering scope for large and complex port projects leading the development review and approval of advanced electrical designs calculations and technical reports. Your work will cover power distribution lighting automation communications and specialized systems essential to port operations. You will collaborate closely with colleagues from other disciplines such as civil structural mechanical and environmental engineering to deliver coordinated and integrated solutions that meet client needs and regulatory requirements. As a leader you will mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning. Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients regulators and industry partners is also a key aspect of this role. You will represent Arcadis at stakeholder meetings and technical forums contribute to business development activities and champion the adoption of digital and sustainable innovations throughout the project life cycle.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (Masters preferred).
• Registered Professional Engineer (.) in Nova Scotia and / or other Atlantic Canada provinces or eligible for registration.
• 12 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering with substantial exposure to port marine or heavy infrastructure projects.
• Deep knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code relevant standards and best practices in port electrification shore power automation and related systems.
• Demonstrated experience leading large multidisciplinary project teams and managing client relationships.
• Proficiency with design and modelling software (e.g. AutoCAD Revit ETAP SKM).
• Strong business development proposal writing and communication skills.
• Commitment to safety sustainability and digital innovation.

The salary range for this position is $114590 - $163700. The base salary represents Arcadis hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors such as location skills experience and qualification for the role.
