Please note that the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada has adopted a hybrid work mode of 2 days / week in person. The positions that will be staffed under this inventory are physically located at the Maurice-Lamontagne Institute, Mont-Joli (Quebec).

Duties

Regional Directorate Ecosystem Management includes 3 programs :

  • the marine planning and conservation;
  • the species at risk management;
  • the fish and fish habitat protection.

DUTIES

The tasks of biologists and analysts at the BI-02 levels include conducting analyses, participating and organizing consultations with various partners, drafting documents and providing management recommendations in relation to the application of different regulatory and protection programs.

Work environment

Regional Directorate of the Ecosystem Management of Fisheries and Oceans Canada's mandate is to ensure the conservation and protection of aquatic, freshwater and marine ecosystems in the Quebec region through the implementation of policies derived from federal legislation. We are located at the Maurice Lamontagne Institute in Mont-Joli, at the edge of the St. Lawrence estuary. EDUCATION

  • A degree
  • from a recognized post-secondary institution in natural sciences, physical sciences or applied sciences, with specialization
  • in a field related to the duties of the position.
  • Or in the process of obtaining such a degree by summer – Will be required at the time of appointment)

    Note

  • The term “degree” refers to a baccalaureate as established by educational authorities.
  • The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and have been taken from a recognized post
  • secondary institution, but not necessarily as part of a degree program in the required specialization.

    EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in the analysis, the summary and the production of reports using data or information related to research in the natural environment.
  • Experience in management of natural resources.

    EXPERIENCE (ASSET QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Experience in consultation or mobilizing partners
  • on issues related to natural resources management.
  • Experience in consultation or engagement with Aboriginal organizations.
  • Experience in relation to the marine planning and conservation.
  • Experience with species at risk management.
  • Experience with fish and fish habitat protection.
