Position Overview :

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for concept generation, detailed design, equipment specification, selection, and production drawings.

Effective communication with the production team is essential to ensure efficient and cost-effective designs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create component concepts and detailed designs.
  • Develop 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Maintain and create standard toolbox libraries for 3D models.
  • Produce P&IDs and engineering Bills of Materials.
  • Review and manage drawings.
  • Design product components, including layout and manufacturing drawings, equipment specifications, Bills of Materials, work instructions, manuals, and material requisitions.
  • Perform design calculations and ensure compliance with engineering procedures.
  • Estimate costs and manage projects when needed.
  • Oversee, coordinate, and ensure timely completion of project tasks.
  • Improve drawing control procedures and standard practices.
  • Understand and follow workplace health and safety responsibilities.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to safe work procedures.
  • Use required protective clothing, devices, and equipment.
  • Complete quality records and adhere to documented policies and procedures.
  • Perform sizing calculations for process control components.
  • Conduct pressure calculations according to design codes like ASME B31.3, ASME BPVC, and the Pressure Equipment Directive.

Qualifications :

  • Degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or enrolled as an Engineer in Training (EIT) in Canada.
  • Experience and Skills :
  • 2 - 5 years of experience in machine design, particularly with reciprocating compressors.
  • 2 - 5 years of experience creating detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Experience in mechanical design of heat exchangers, vessels, piping, and assemblies.
  • Experience with machine / compressor assemblies.
  • Background in process systems design is advantageous.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and able to learn new software as needed.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning / Material Requirements Planning Software.
  • Strong communication skills for effective documentation and implementation.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • depending upon the experience the salary ranges from 80-100k
  • Ability to make decisions, provide clear instructions, and follow through effectively.

This position requires a mechanical engineer who can combine technical expertise with project management skills to enhance and support production capabilities.
