Please note: These positions will be based on-site in either Halifax, NS or Fredericton, NB.
You as a Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) Coordinator will:
- Be responsible for site specific safety including facilitating orientations, site inspections, review and filing of subcontractor’s pre-construction and weekly safety submittals and conducting / leading accident investigations when necessary.
- Identify potential hazards and directing rectification measures.
- Monitor employees and subcontractors on site to ensure compliance to safety procedures and escalate issues to resolution.
- Organize and conduct training programs including but not limited to: WHMIS, Working At Heights, Personal Protection Equipment, CPR/First Aid.
- Coordinate weekly safety audit summaries.
- Effectively compile weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly project health and safety statistics .
- Regulate work site activity in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Coordinate Joint Health & Safety Committees.
- Proactively identifying and preventing hazardous situations and taking necessary measures to rectify.
- Provide leadership for a best-in-class health and safety program.
Is this the right role for you?
- You have a minimum of 3-5 years’ of safety construction experience
- You have the ability to delegate and influence others to follow safety rules and regulations.
- You are working towards or are already certified under the Occupational Health and Safety Act/Regulations with experience working on a construction site.
- You are a holder of or working toward a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certificate.
- You have completed a college degree or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Experience with the COR Certification process would be an advantage.
