MPHA 6P02: Introduction to Population Epidemiology

Compensation

Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.

· Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $ per hour.

· Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $ per hour.

· In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant’s duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.

Duties

The duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant shall be in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. These are made up of scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must have a graduate degree (Masters or PhD) in either Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Applied Health Sciences, or equivalent
  • Previous teaching or teaching assistance experience in Graduate and/or Undergraduate Epidemiology courses (ex. HLSC 4P50 or MPHA 5P03)
  • Experience with research methods and design
  • Effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students and manage online communication (forums)
  • Experience with an online format ( familiarity with Brightspace) would be an asset
