Job description

Work Arrangement: At Office / Facility

Department: Corunna Operations Function

Pembina Pipeline Corporation is a dynamic energy transportation and midstream provider, serving customers for more than 65 years. Chances are, we do more than you think. We own pipelines that transport hydrocarbon liquids and natural gas products. We also own gathering and processing facilities and an oil and natural gas liquids infrastructure and logistics business. Our operations along the hydrocarbon value chain allow us to offer a full state of midstream and marketing services to our customers in the energy industry.

We are an organization that cares not only about results, but how those results are achieved. Our organization is grounded in the values of Safe, Trustworthy, Respectful, Collaborative and Entrepreneurial. Pembina has a diverse and inclusive working environment that provides employees with a positive and engaging working experience where they are recognized and empowered. Learn more about our values and strategy.

We value the safety of our communities, customers, contractors and employees, and believe that all incidents are preventable. Compliance with all policies, procedures and regulations is a requirement, including our Life Saving Rules. Working for Pembina means working safely.

Overview:

Pembina Pipeline’s Corunna Facility, part of the Transmission and Extraction Operations assets is actively hiring for an Operations Technician to join the team. This position is a unionized role, and reports to the Operations Foreman.

The Technician is accountable for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of complex facility systems, requiring strong technical capability and sound operational judgment. The position plays a critical role in maintaining process integrity, responding to operational risks, and optimizing performance across interconnected systems. Success in this role depends on a steadfast commitment to safety, the ability to identify and mitigate hazards, and the technical expertise to troubleshoot and enhance facility operations while contributing to a high-performing, team-oriented environment.

Pembina’s Corunna facility supports the fractionation, terminalling, storage, and distribution of specification natural gas liquids (NGLs) across North America. NGLs—classified by carbon chain length—include ethane, propane, butane, and condensate (C5+). The site utilizes salt cavern storage and a fully integrated transportation network, including rail, truck, and pipeline. As a key hub in the eastern market, Corunna connects with multiple industry partners in the Sarnia region to efficiently store, handle, and distribute NGL products.

The Transmission & Extraction Operations are responsible for the safe, reliable, and compliant transportation and extraction of hydrocarbons across Pembina’s integrated pipeline and facilities network. The asset delivers critical connectivity between upstream supply and downstream markets while maintaining a strong focus on asset integrity, operational discipline, and regulatory excellence.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Operate the facility within defined operating envelopes, ensuring safe, efficient, compliant, and reliable performance through strict adherence to procedures and operating standards;
  • Maintain constant situational awareness of plant conditions, proactively adjusting operations to optimize production, reliability, and process efficiency;
  • Respond decisively to abnormal conditions, including emergencies, equipment failures, process upsets, and shutdown/start-up scenarios, prioritizing personnel and asset safety;
  • Execute and support safe start-up, shutdown, and operational transitions in coordination with cross-functional teams;
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize facility systems, including cavern storage, pipelines, rail and truck loading, pumps, dryers, and utility systems, building deep technical capability;
  • Issue permits, conduct and review hazard assessments, and ensure all work activities are properly risk-assessed, controlled, and documented in accordance with safety and regulatory requirements;
  • Support maintenance and reliability activities by identifying risks, escalating issues, and enabling safe execution of work;
  • Demonstrate strong safety leadership by consistently applying safe work practices, intervening when unsafe conditions arise, and reinforcing a culture of accountability;
  • Champion Pembina’s Zero by Choice safety culture and Life Saving Rules by embedding physical, psychological, and cyber safety into all work practices while taking personal accountability to maintain compliance, support audit readiness, proactively identify risks, and protect our people, assets, and data; and
  • Foster a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative team environment that supports operational excellence.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive operational experience in industrial or energy environments, with a demonstrated commitment to safe, reliable operations and proactive risk mitigation;
  • Post-secondary education, technical training, and/or a Power Engineering certification (or equivalent), with a strong foundation in process operations and systems thinking;
  • Proficient with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Microsoft Office Suite, and other operational, maintenance, or data management systems/databases (e.g., CMMS, ETRM, or plant information systems);
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and economic decision-making skills, enabling sound operational judgment in complex and time-sensitive situations;
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in dynamic environments, managing competing priorities while maintaining operational discipline, safety, and performance outcomes;
  • High learning agility, with the ability to rapidly build technical depth, adapt to new systems and technologies, and continuously enhance operational capability;
  • Clear and effective communicator, able to translate complex technical information, collaborate cross-functionally, and contribute as a trusted team member in a high-performing environment;
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills, ensuring work is planned and executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with Pembina’s standards and values;
  • A deeply embedded safety mindset, with a track record of hazard identification, intervention on unsafe conditions, and reinforcement of a “Zero by Choice” culture; and
  • Valid Driver’s License with the ability to travel to and work across operational sites as required.

This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” and so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing which includes testing for marijuana metabolites. You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.

The successful candidate must live within 100 km of Corunna, Ontario.

Pay Transparency Requirement: The base salary range for this position is CAD to CAD. Actual total compensation may differ based on candidate's qualifications and location.

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. The final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.

This posting is for an existing vacancy currently available within Pembina.

This position will be posted until end of day: 06/30/2026. In rare circumstances, a position may be posted for less time if there has been significant interest in the role.
