Job Summary :

The incumbent is responsible for safely operating the City transit buses according to a set daily schedule. Ensure that the transit bus is in good operating condition at all times, pick up and drop off customers as per the schedule, maintain order and security on the bus, and obey all laws and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities :

• Operate the bus in a safe and efficient way in accordance with established schedules and all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
• Adhere to road, weather, and traffic conditions and be attentive to street signs, traffic signals, pedestrians, other vehicles, etc.
• Ensure that the bus is clean and in proper working condition at all times.
• Provide customer service to passengers by answering inquiries, providing route information, and giving directions.
• Perform circle inspection of bus interior / exterior.
• Advise a Mechanic of any requirements for maintenance or repairs.
• Maintain orderliness on the bus by effectively diffusing difficult situations.
• Report delays, malfunctions, and accidents.
• Complete accident and / or other reports as required, related to any incidences occurring during the shift.
• Follow, so far as is reasonably practicable, established safety procedures and standards.
• Other related duties.
