Job description

What you’ll do:


Reporting to the Meat Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering world-class customer service; preparing and packaging cuts of meat, poultry and seafood; merchandising and displaying packaged meat; and maintaining department cleanliness and housekeeping standards. Other duties include:

  • Ensuring the department is properly stocked with merchandise and faced at all times
  • Maintaining sections of merchandise (fresh, smoked, and frozen meat) as assigned in an effective manner. Ensuring first-in, first-out rotation is followed at all times, and that close-dated product is reported to the Meat Manager.

  • Receiving, inspecting, and storing orders upon delivery to ensure all products are immediately stored in proper temperature-controlled environment.

  • Cutting, trimming, boning, tying, tenderizing and grinding meats such as beef, pork, poultry and seafood.

  • Wrapping, weighing, labelling and pricing cuts of meat for sale on self-serve counter.

  • Following the highest standards for sanitation and food safety guidelines.

  • Interacting with and answering customer questions on how to prepare products and be an ambassador for Co-op brand products.
