Job Summary
The Team
The Information Access Operations (IAO) branch is a diverse and collaborative team within the Ministry of Finance, responsible for supporting transparency and accountability under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA). The team plays a vital role in helping citizens access government records, ensuring compliance with FOI requirements, and providing records management support across ministries and agencies. IAO values equity, diversity, and inclusion, fostering a respectful and inclusive environment where team members bring unique perspectives to their meaningful work.
The Role
In this role, you will manage a complex caseload of Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, providing expert advice to ministries and partners to ensure compliance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA). You will handle high-profile, cross-ministry requests, represent ministries in appeal mediations, and lead projects to improve policies and processes for information access. The position values diverse perspectives and encourages collaboration to enhance service delivery and promote equitable access to government information.
Qualifications :
Education and Experience Requirements
- Degree in Information Management, Public Administration or other directly related discipline and 3 years of
- related experience; OR
- Diploma in Information Management, Public Administration or other directly related discipline and 4 years of
- related experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education / training and
- related experience may be considered.
- Related experience includes :
- Experience interpreting and administering FOI legislation and providing advice on policy, procedures, and guidelines.
- Experience managing projects, assignments, or caseloads.
- Experience in negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution.
- Experience drafting business correspondence and providing written and oral briefings to senior management and executive.
- Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a variety of organizations, partners, or applicants.
- Experience providing written and oral briefings to management.

The position headquarters will be Victoria, Vancouver, Richmond, Surrey and Prince George
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established for future temporary and / or permanent vacancies.
