The Riley Firm, a thriving boutique law firm, is rapidly expanding, and we are searching for a skilled and experienced Family Law Clerk to join our growing and dynamic team. With a deep commitment to our clients and a passion for achieving positive outcomes, we pride ourselves on providing exceptional legal services and personalized support to families navigating challenging circumstances.

We're looking for an experienced Family Law Clerk to join our expanding team and help perform a variety of legal tasks. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and efficiently liaising with clients and third-party professionals, preparing court documents and routine correspondence in a prompt and professional manner, and communicating effectively with lawyers. We're seeking an individual who is self-motivated and can effectively manage their time. As this is a fully-remote position, the selected candidate will need to be self-motivated and have excellent time-management skills, in addition to the following :

  • Experience working as a Law Clerk for a family law firm;
  • Prepare simple Divorce Applications, Affidavits, Motions, arrange service and online filings of court documents
  • Conduct client interviews and meet with clients to prepare court forms and answer procedural / routine questions about process;
  • Scheduling meetings / court attendances, diarizing meetings, court dates and filing deadlines;
  • Excellent knowledge of the Family Law Rules;
  • Drafting routine correspondence;
  • Drafting Applications, Answers, Case Conference / Settlement Conference Briefs, Separation Agreements, Marriage Contracts;
  • Knowledge of service and filing procedures in the Superior Court of Justice (Family Court)
  • Familiar with the Financial Disclosure process;
  • Preparation of Financial Statements, Net Family Property Statements;
  • Experienced in Microsoft 365, Word, Adobe, DivorceMate, Zoom and DocuSign;
  • Experience with CLIO is an asset;
  • Efficient in electronic file management;
  • Excellent note-taking and attention to detail;
  • Communicating with third party service providers (e.g. process servers, courts, etc.)
