Job description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Data Clerk / Administrative Support professional to join our team in Sydney, Nova Scotia. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to public service, utilizing your strong clerical, administrative, and technological skills. The successful candidate will provide essential day-to-day office support to ensure the efficient operation of the department.

These positions are to input data into the new Apprenticeship Management System.

Monday to Friday 8 : 30 to 4 : 30 (on-site)

Responsibilities

The Clerk will be responsible for a variety of administrative and clerical duties, including but not limited to :

Information Management : Preparing, reviewing, and processing a variety of documents, including correspondence, reports, forms, and presentations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to provincial standards.

Data Entry : Accurately inputting and maintaining data within departmental and government-wide computerized systems and databases.

Confidentiality : Maintaining strict confidentiality and using discretion when handling sensitive information and records.

Qualifications

Education : Completion of a high school diploma or GED. Additional education in Office Administration, Secretarial Science, or a related field is an asset.

Experience : Previous experience (basic to moderate level) in a clerical, administrative, or office support role is required. Experience within a government or public sector environment is considered an asset.

Technical Skills : Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is essential, along with a strong working knowledge of general office equipment. Experience with database entry and management is an asset.

Key Competencies :

Demonstrated strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage a varied workload effectively.

Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion when dealing with confidential information.

A strong commitment to client and public service.
