We are presently accepting resumes for a Permanent Full-Time  Direct Care Staff to work in our Accommodation P rogram - O'Brien House.  This position supports people with intellectual disabilities with all aspects of their daily living.  Duties may include support with finances, medical appointments, personal care, household duties, meal preparation, and supporting individuals to get ready for their daily activities as per their individual choices or plans.

Compensation p ackage :

Work up to 72 hours biweekly ;
Minimum starting rate of pay is $ 2 6.55 per hour ;
11 paid statutory holidays;
Employer paid confidential E mployee A ssistance Program for you and your family members;

Following the successful completion of probation :

Employer paid life insurance, short- and long-term disability, health and dental benefits;

Employer paid vacation and sick time ;

Participation in RRSP with employer match up to 5 %;

Minimum r equirements for this position include :

C ertificate from an accredited educational facility in the area of elder care, health care or social services;

P revious experience working with independent elder population; geriatric experience is also an asset;

G ood computer skills in Microsoft Office and database experience is required ;

A current clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening, valid "Class G" driver's license and reliable transportation are required .

Overview of d uties (including, but not limited to) :

A dministering and assisting with routine medication dispensing and treatment procedures to meet the personal needs and comfort of individuals and accurately maintaining appropriate records ;

P roviding the highest level of personal care and attention to individuals, following individual support plans and ensuring that all contact is respectful and supportive;

L iaising with other care professionals relating to the care needs of individuals;

R esponsible for making and changing beds, tidying rooms, light cleaning, preparing and serving meals and drinks as required ;

B eing an active and encouraging member of the support team; contributing to team meetings .
