Reporting to the Director, Public Safety, the Manager is responsible for leading operations for the City as legislated by City By-laws, Policies, and select Government Statutes and Acts. The incumbent supports the Director in the strategic development of efficient and effective public safety goals through the use and deployment of personnel, equipment, and other resources. The incumbent administers the enforcement program including research, development, and evaluation of policies and programs, operational and capital budgets, and team culture related to enforcement and public safety. The incumbent is responsible to recruit, evaluate, manage, and mentor staff, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence in accordance with City policies and the respective collective agreements.
This position requires a university degree in law, public safety, or a related field. In addition, a minimum of 6 years' experience in law, public safety or a related field is required, along with a minimum of 4 years' progressive experience supervising or managing staff. The incumbent must possess excellent communication skills and have an ability to deal with members of the public, the media, and different levels of government in a positive and diplomatic manner.
