Job description

What you’ll do:

The Bakery Supervisor (Clerk II) is responsible for overseeing sales activities and service levels within the department, including adherence to asset protection, safe working conditions, Homestead Co-op brand/image standards, and product regulatory requirements.

  • Supervise and support the team, fostering a positive work environment and driving shift/unit objectives, including participation in recruitment and development.

  • Respond to customer inquiries, assess needs, and resolve issues promptly to maintain high satisfaction.

  • Deliver and support consistent, efficient, and friendly customer service; step in for direct service as needed.

  • Assist the manager with scheduling, work assignments, training coordination, and performance feedback to meet operational goals.

  • Additional duties as assigned to support the department and department manager.

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Retail and have:

  • A Minimum 1-2 years of retail and/or customer service experience required. Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.

  • Completed a post-secondary program in Professional Baking, Culinary Arts or a related field would be considered an asset. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

  • Experience in a bakery, food production, or fresh food retail environment is considered an asset.

  • Your Food Safe/Food Handler Certification required (or are willingness to obtain).

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs repetitively and stand for long periods of time.

  • Demonstrated experience in merchandising, inventory control, and food handling practices is an asset.

  • Proven ability to deliver strong customer service and resolve customer concerns effectively is an asset.

  • Strong interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing demands.
