Job description



Overview:
The Writer Level 1 researches, designs, writes, edits, and maintains corporate, marketing, web/social, or technical materials enabling meaningful communication with BC Hydro’s intended audience.

What you will be doing:

  • Compile various sources of information that describe process and procedure for Distribution Design, then write clear and concise revisions in alignment with the applicable processes and software that will be implemented in November of 2026.

  • Prepare customer escalation responses for DDCC senior management.

  • Prepare communications on work delivery (i.e., initiative scope, schedule, purpose and benefits) for consumption by frontline staff and stakeholders.

  • Collect and research relevant information by collaborating with subject matter experts to generate source content that represents the company’s intended message.

  • Translate and refine source content into materials that are user-friendly, concise, accurate, and clear following the company's writing guidelines.

  • Design and create media that is simple and engaging by sourcing graphics that follow basic design principles and the company's internal brand guidelines in the use of colours, logo, typography, and illustration.

  • Deliver the company's message by integrating excellent writing and a visually appealing format into communication materials that meet the audiences’ needs.

  • Ensure easy retrieval, safeguarding, and proper version control of documents by organizing communication materials using document management systems and following the company's document management standards.

What you must have:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Writing, Communication, Journalism or equivalent – portfolio required

  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word and PowerPoint)

  • Advanced Adobe skills

  • Advanced English skills for professional environment, written and spoken

  • Graphic design skills, an asset


Salary/Rate Range: $22.00 -$27.00 per hour


Term: 6-months contract most likely to extend
