PURPOSE OF THE POSITION : Perform preventative and corrective maintenance of all systems associated with CPKC's Work Equipment group, including mechanical, electrical and hydraulic machinery / equipment. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES : Perform preventative and corrective maintenance of all systems associated with Work Equipment (Mechanical, Electrical and Hydraulic)Make Inspections and testsRepair or replace parts with limited resources in remote locations outdoorsPerform welding repairsInvestigate and locate equipment problems and take corrective action minimizing the impact on crew productionPlan work and co-ordinate it with othersPrepare and submit equipment maintenance records, time sheets etc.Obtain certification in CPKC safety rulesThe work location is outdoors and, therefore, you will be working in all weather conditions (rain, direct sunlight, snow etc.)Will be required to be away from home and will stay in with meal allowance provided POSITION REQUIREMENTS : A Journeyman's certificate as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic / Technician OR a Journeyman’s certificate as an Automotive Mechanic / Technician, OR a registered and active 2nd or 3rd year apprentice in Heavy-Duty MechanicsAbility to carefully monitor gauges, instruments, or processesAbility to take action in solving problems while exhibiting judgmentAbility to follow instructions; solid written and verbal communications skillsMust be able to work as a member of a teamAbility to perform a wide variety of tasks and change focus quickly as demands changeAn emphasis on safety is critical for all employees.
