Job description

Reporting to the Department Head, Athletics and utilizing a service excellence approach, this position coordinates and supports the daily operations of recreation, student experience and campus life initiatives within the department. The role contributes to student engagement, wellness and community connection and requires collaboration with students, staff, community members and external partners.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Supporting Recreation and Student Experience initiatives:

  • researching, coordinating, organizing and providing guidance for a variety of recreation programs, student activities and student experience initiatives aimed at enhancing student engagement, wellness and campus life
  • supporting the planning and coordination of recreation and student experience programming delivered by front-line staff and programmers
  • coordinating recreational clubs and student groups
  • participating in the Student Experience Team (SET) committee and supporting the coordination of related initiatives
  • collaborating with other departments across the college to support activities that promote student development and wellness.
  • coordinating on-call relief staff coverage and work study schedules and hours
  • coordinating the student ambassador program, including scheduling, training coordination, communications and supporting delivery of ambassador-led initiatives.
  • tracking participation, usage and operational information related to recreation programs, student activities, clubs, camps
  • coordinating recreation and sport camps offered to students and the community, including planning support, scheduling, logistics, and coordination with front-line staff and partners

Operational and administrative support:

  • coordinating scheduling, room and facility bookings and logistical arrangements related to recreation programs, student activities and special events.
  • preparing routine correspondence, processing mail, and maintaining filing systems
  • coordinating purchasing and sourcing of supplies and services for recreation programs and student activities
  • scheduling meetings, booking rooms, preparing agendas and recording minutes for a variety of committees and meetings.
  • Work with Department Head and programmers to create and distribute marketing materials and maintain department webpages and social media in accordance with training and guidance from the Department of Communications and Public Engagement.
  • preparing and processing purchase requisitions, cheque requisitions, honorariums, student payments, receipts, and other related financial documentation
  • Reconciling credit card transactions and supporting tracking of budgets related to recreation and student experience initiatives

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel)
  • Proficiency in web content management and social media campaigns
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Exemplary customer service skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to set priorities when encountering conflicting demands
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Experience with sport skills camps an asset

Education and Experience

  • Completion of Human Kinetics, Kinesiology, Sport and Leisure Management or other relevant athletics/recreation Diploma
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in coordination of athletics, recreation and student activities
  • Level I First Aid

This is a temporary, full-time (100%) position covering a leave, commencing April 22, 2026, and ending November 9, 2027, with the possibility of extension, or upon return of the incumbent. Salary will be Pay Grade 8, $33.38 per hour in accordance with the PPWC Collective Agreement.
