Job description

Description

This swamper will assist the driver in picking up and sorting donations for The Salvation Army North Vancouver.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Processes raw materials by unloading, sorting, packing, storing, loading the donations; protects the integrity of the donation.
  • Selects donations for store distribution meeting established standards of quality and distinguishing between discarded and good quality merchandise according to company standards
  • Meets assigned daily targets; counts, weighs and records incoming and outgoing donations
  • Complies with all safety procedures and in / outdoor tidy maintenance guidelines
  • Operates all equipment in loading bay as necessary
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS :

Education / Certifications :

  • The successful job applicant will have completed High School
  • A valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License supported by a clean Driver’s Abstract is preferred

    • Experience :

  • Up to 12 months of prior related experience including, experience with warehouse processing or goods distribution and knowledge of lifting guidelines are an asset.

    • Required Skills / Knowledge :

  • Experience in sorting food and goods
  • Punctuality, reliability, trustworthiness
  • Required to lift and / or move more than 40 pounds
  • Operates equipment such as a power jack

    • HOURS :

    Part-time : 25 hours / week, Monday-Friday 07 : 00 AM – 12 : 00 PM

    Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide :

  • Background check consent
  • A clear vulnerable sector screening
  • A clean driver’s abstract
  • Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
