Type of position: Regular
At BBA, you’ll use your skills and experience toactively contribute to our sound management and growth in Québec City and Atlantic Canada.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you’ll ensure the seamless integration of our engineering, consulting and field practices while optimizing operational efficiency and advancing strategic initiatives to help our organization grow. Your responsibilities will include developing new business opportunities and ensuring the quality and excellence of our deliverables for existing and future clients.
This position is for an experienced leader with a strong management background in engineering operations or consulting, as well as expertise in strategic market development.
An overview of your mandates and responsibilities
Business development
- Expand BBA’s presence in Atlantic Canada.
- Lead strategic business development initiatives to generate value-added OPEX and CAPEX projects for the growth, profitability and long-term success of the regions under your responsibility.
- Position those regions to generate growth opportunities by developing effective pursuit strategies.
- Establish a structure that fosters inter-office and inter-departmental synergy to cross-sell our services as much as possible and strengthen client engagement.
Operations management
- Develop a plan for growth and efficient execution of OPEX projects for all offices in your regions.
- Diversify and expand our regional service offering to keep our operations sustainable.
- Create and implement a regional operations plan in line with the firm’s overall objectives, in collaboration with the COO and other members of senior management.
- Promote adopting advanced technologies and innovative solutions to improve operational efficiency and performance.
- Supervise the engineering activities of multiple offices to ensure operational excellence, the quality of deliverables and compliance with safety standards.
- Manage budgets, resources, health and safety, project delivery and market strategies to achieve operational objectives.
- Optimize operational efficiency by applying best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess and optimize regional performance.
- Develop a robust risk management plan to anticipate and mitigate operational risks.
- Ensure compliance with federal, provincial and local regulations for all engineering, consulting and field activities.
- Lead, motivate, coach and develop high-potential directors and managers.
- Steer initiatives in talent acquisition, retention and professional development to build and care for engaged, high-performing teams.
- Actively promote BBA’s corporate culture and business model to internal and external stakeholders.

Overview of certifications and job requirements
- University degree in engineering or science or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- At least 15 years of relevant experience in a leadership position at a consulting engineering firm
- At least 5 years of experience leading and building teams, from strategy through to operational execution
- The level of emotional intelligence, ability to influence and communication skills needed to foster collaboration with a variety of key stakeholders
- A track record of strong leadership across various Canadian regions
- Strong operational and analytical abilities
- Excellent knowledge of and ease with analytical tools and data concepts
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills
- Major asset: Bilingual (English and French).
