Array Web + CreativeNanaimo, Regional District of Nanaimo, CA- Permanent
We’re looking for a Junior Graphic Designer to join our growing creative team. This role is ideal for someone early in their design career who is curious, motivated, and excited to learn by doing.
As a Junior Graphic Designer, you’ll support the development of thoughtful, well‑crafted visual work across brand, print, and digital projects. You’ll work closely with senior designers, strategists, and project managers, gaining hands‑on experience while contributing meaningfully to real client work.
This is a growth‑focused role. We don’t expect you to know everything, but we do expect strong fundamentals, attention to detail, and a willingness to take feedback, ask questions, and push your skills forward. You’ll be supported with clear direction, mentorship, and opportunities to expand your capabilities as your confidence grows.
If you’re someone who cares about good design, wants to understand the “why” behind creative decisions, and is excited to be part of a collaborative studio environment, this role could be a great fit.
As a Junior Designer at Array, your role includes the following responsibilities :
- Review supplied documents, emails, and project briefs from Account Management to support project design, and ask clarifying questions as needed.
- Assist with conceptual development, layout, and design across print and digital projects under the guidance of senior designers.
- Support senior designers with estimating time on small or quick‑turnaround tasks when required.
- Attend internal project meetings and client meetings as needed, primarily in a support or observational role.
- Present all creative work for internal review with senior design staff prior to any client‑facing review.
- Participate in the proofing process, including implementing feedback, coordinating with team members, and reviewing programmed websites post‑completion with guidance.
- Collaborate with senior designers and the creative director to problem‑solve design challenges and develop strong design solutions.
- Communicate professionally with internal team members and, when appropriate, with clients under the direction of a senior designer or account lead.
- Respond to internal communications in a timely and professional manner.
- Work toward meeting assigned project timelines and budgeted hours, with support and guidance from the team.
- Diploma or certificate in Graphic Design (or equivalent training).
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, with a strong foundation in Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
- Familiarity with prototyping and design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD for digital and UI‑focused projects.
- Basic motion graphics experience (After Effects and / or Premiere Pro) is considered an asset, but not required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Word and PowerPoint, for creating and updating client‑facing presentations.
Compensation :
Starting salary for this role is $48,500 CAD. A benefits package is available for you once you become a permanent full‑time employee after a probationary period.
How to Apply :
Please email your resume, portfolio, and salary expectations to the attention of Kristina Crowson and Sarah Brown via careers@arraystudios.com.
At this time we are not considering applications from out of the country, and the ideal candidate will work part‑time from our Nanaimo office, Tuesday to Thursday. Fully remote positions are not an option for this role – applicants unable to relocate will not be considered.
