The Coordinator, Environmental Services, provides environmental services, including technical advice, guidance and recommendations, to the Client-Partners on, typically, moderate complexity, scope and / or risk projects in one or more environmental services practice area. These services can be provided through in-house resources or third-party contracts. The incumbent prepares technical documents, reviews deliverables, assists in the procurement process, oversees contractor and consultant activities, and coordinates project activities to ensure overall requirements are met on time, within scope and on budget.
KEY AND PERIODIC ACTIVITIES
The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative but not all-inclusive :
Responsibilities
- Prepare and draft environmental impact assessments for various infrastructure projects.
- Coordinate various environmental projects, such as biological inventories, environmental characterizations, option analysis, site remediation plans, and water quality monitoring.
- Conduct building environmental compliance monitoring and / or inspections during business operations and on construction sites.
- Provide technical advice in relation to applicable regulations, monitor the implementation of mitigation measures to protect the environment.
- Participate in the preparation of Soil Management Plans and ensure environmentally sound and compliant soil management in infrastructure remediation and / or construction projects.
- Support project planning and construction management teams by informing them of applicable environmental requirements and by recommending best practices.
- Conduct and coordinate environmental work on a wide variety of projects to monitor compliance with legal and other requirements
- Provide environmental technical support for and / or lead contract initiation and management
- Prepare environmental reports to meet Client-Partner requirements
- Provide input to ensure the service level arrangement deliverables are met and work is completed on time and on budget
- Review and / or peer review environmental reports, statements of work and cost estimates
- Provide overall project management services to ensure deliverables are provided on time, within scope and on budget
- Develop and maintain effective relationships within DCC, and with industry, the Client-Partners and / or stakeholders
- Ensure quality standards are met, in line with corporate and Client-Partner expectations

To begin a career with Defence Construction Canada (DCC), you must be a Canadian Citizen or a permanent resident of Canada. As a condition of employment with DCC, a minimum reliability security status clearance is required and some roles may require secret security status clearance.
DCC is responsible for the Personnel Security Clearance process. Typically to be eligible for a "Reliability" clearance, you must have five years of verifiable background information and to be eligible for a "Secret" clearance, you must have 10 years of verifiable background information. The process usually involves reference inquiries, verification of qualifications, criminal records checks, and credit checks (as required) and may require fingerprints. Required
The appropriate security clearance is a condition of employment and it is the candidate’s or employee’s responsibility to ensure, they are able to obtain and maintain their required security level clearance to begin or continue their employment with DCC. Failure to obtain or maintain, the appropriate level of security clearance means either the candidate or employee will not receive a job offer, the conditional offer will be rendered null and void or their employment will be terminated with cause.
