About Us

The Canadian Cancer Society works tirelessly to save and improve lives. We raise funds to fuel the brightest minds in cancer research, provide a compassionate support system for all those affected, and work to create a healthier future for everyone.

Job Summary

As a Transportation Specialist, you will provide expertise in the Wheels of Hope Transportation Programs, supporting clients nationwide with travel or financial support to reach cancer‑related appointments. You will work with a diverse population in a contact center environment, ensuring compliance with program processes and delivering outstanding customer service.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Provide exceptional service to clients and healthcare providers looking for travel or financial support to offset travel costs.
  • Evaluate the most appropriate services for clients and complete all program registration services including information gathering, acceptance, fee collection, and, when required, compassionate assessments.
  • Maintain a welcoming environment for clients on the phone and input accurate client, and if required appointment data, into the transportation software.
  • Ensure all client and caregiver transportation data is current and complete.
  • Facilitate financial transactions, including both registrations and volunteer billing, ensuring privacy and financial policies are strictly monitored and adhered to.
  • Evaluate, accept, or decline all trip requests for the driving program.
  • Produce efficient and effective schedules, minimizing the number of trips not provided.
  • Confirm volunteer information is up to date and availability is regularly verified.
  • Respond to operational issues such as re‑assignments, delays, cancellations, and complaints.
  • Seek continuous improvement for all processes pertaining to the three Wheels of Hope programs.
  • Maintain and communicate current information about treatment facilities to support a positive client experience.
  • Ensure client confidentiality.
  • Highlight other services available to clients, caregivers, and health providers, including Cancer‑Info Healthline, CancerConnection, and the Community Services Locator.
  • Refer to CCS Story‑Centre for appropriate client or volunteer experiences.
  • Work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations.
  • Contribute to a culture of diversity, inclusion, belonging, and equity (DIBE) by ensuring all staff feel represented, valued, and heard.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Post‑secondary education and a minimum of 2 years of related experience in a client‑focused, fast‑paced environment, or equivalent.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, high volume of work, and tight deadlines.
  • Highly skilled at telephone‑based interactions, focusing on active listening without visual cues.
  • Empathetic, compassionate, good listener, comfortable responding to highly emotional situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate discretion.
  • Proficient in database applications.
  • Advanced geographic knowledge.
  • Knowledge of regional hospital systems is an asset.
  • Ability to communicate in languages other than English is an asset.
  • What You Can Expect From Us

CCS provides impactful opportunities to transform the lives of Canadians affected by cancer. Our inclusive workplace celebrates diversity and encourages qualified candidates from all backgrounds.

We offer a competitive salary, paid parental leave, family sick time, health insurance, and a fulfilling work environment where your efforts make a meaningful impact daily.

    How to Apply

Qualified candidates are invited to submit a resume, cover letter, and salary expectations by December 2, 2025.

    Other Information
