Position Overview

This role is to oversee and provide leadership to the daily operations of the automated warehouse with an emphasis on customer satisfaction, productivity, operational and cost efficiencies, machinery availability, overall labour climate with a focus on health and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a production team, a maintenance team, Human Resources, IT Support as well as ensure proper product management and inventory control of assets with a health and safety focus
  • Establish, define and communicate overall goals and objectives of the operation to the onsite team
  • Be a motivated team builder, coach and trainer to all members of the onsite team
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of employees
  • Ensure a clear and constant communication with all levels of the onsite team
  • Ensure fair and transparent treatment of all team members through proper administration of benefits and salary
  • Ensure an open and effective communication with key members of the national office team
  • Ensure that customer needs and requirements are met and drive a collaborative relationship with the customer
  • Bring added value to the customer and ensure a mutually beneficial relationship
  • Hire, train, manage and guide the team to meet or exceed metrics and goals
  • Establish, plan and implement the necessary employee engagement programs required to foster a culture of teamwork and continuous performance improvement
  • Participate in setting up budgets and operational targets
  • Identify opportunities for improvements to customer service and overall strategic growth
  • Train others in required work methods, company policy and safety requirements
  • Implement and setup documentation for the implementation of industry best practices, including standard operating procedures
  • Organize, co-ordinate and supervise the work for the various teams in accordance with policies, laws and regulations
  • Set direction for facility while anticipating operational issues and develop preventative measures by analyzing quantitative, qualitative and trend data and make decisions based on this data that will positively impact productivity and sustainability
  • Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Engineering or Business Admin or equivalent related field
  • 5-10 years experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven track record of success in a high paced leadership role in a manufacturing environment
  • Analytical nature, able to problem solve with the ability to implement systems and lead by example
  • Excellent communication skills; French is an asset
  • Familiarity with fundamental maintenance principles
  • Experience with budgeting, knowledge of financial principles and experience with capital project management an asset
  • Familiarity with quality principles and continuous improvement methodologies with advanced skills in organization and 5S
  • Leadership experience in both unionized and non-unionized environments an asset
  • Familiarity with basic logistics and supply chain principles
  • Previous specific (grocery or retail) industry knowledge an asset
