Être guide parlementaire est une expérience unique et enrichissante. Comme guide, vous pourrez :

  • Travailler au cœur de la démocratie canadienne.
  • Accueillir les visiteurs et offrir des visites guidées des édifices du Parlement.
  • Faciliter la programmation à Parlement  : L’expérience immersive.
  • En apprendre sur le Parlement du Canada grâce à une formation complète.
  • Développer vos compétences oratoires et autres compétences professionnelles.
  • Pratiquer votre deuxième langue officielle pendant chaque quart de travail.
  • Rencontrer des personnes intéressantes provenant des quatre coins du pays et du monde.

Formation

Les nouveaux guides reçoivent une formation payée qui porte sur :

  • L’histoire du Parlement.
  • Le processus législatif du Canada et le rôle des parlementaires.
  • L’art et l’architecture des édifices du Parlement.
  • Les techniques d’interprétation.
  • Et plus encore.
  • Qualifications

    Critères d’admissibilité  : Les candidats doivent :

  • Être citoyen canadien ou résident permanent.
  • Être bilingue en français et en anglais. Les guides parlementaires offrent des visites guidées dans les deux langues officielles du Canada. Par conséquent, les candidats doivent être en mesure de parler les deux langues couramment.
  • Étudier à temps plein dans une université canadienne pour l’année académique courante ou à venir. Les étudiants des collèges ou des CÉGEPs qui détiennent un diplôme universitaire sont également admissibles.
  • Être en mesure de travailler selon un horaire variable jusqu’à 7 jours par semaine et jusqu’à 70 heures par période de paie, y compris les fins de semaine et les jours fériés.
  • Critères de sélection

    Les candidats sont évalués et sélectionnés pour l’entrevue en fonction des critères suivants :

  • Expérience pertinente, notamment en interprétation du patrimoine et comme guide et en matière de service à la clientèle et de communication orale en public.
  • Éventail de l’expérience pertinente (travail, bénévolat et / ou expérience paraprofessionnelle), notamment en matière de service à la clientèle, de travail d’équipe et de relations interpersonnelles.
  • Aptitudes supérieures en matière de communication.
  • Critères d’entrevue

    Les entrevues de groupe se déroulent virtuellement. Les candidats seront évalués selon les critères suivants lors de l’entrevue :

  • Excellentes aptitudes en communication orale et en relations interpersonnelles.
  • Professionnalisme et discernement.
  • Créativité, adaptabilité, confiance et sens de l’engagement.
  • Initiative, concentration et travail d’équipe.
  • Capacité de communiquer avec clarté, cohérence et précision, et de comprendre et transmettre des messages aisément dans leur langue seconde à un niveau supérieur.
  • Connaissance du processus législatif canadien et de l’histoire du Parlement.
  • Informations supplémentaires

    Les guides doivent travailler à l’intérieur et à l’extérieur dans diverses conditions météorologiques. Le travail de fin de semaine est une exigence du poste. Les candidatures doivent comprendre les documents (en format PDF uniquement), à télécharger dans l’attaché des pièces jointes sur la deuxième page du formulaire de candidature. Confirmation de statut d’étudiant universitaire (preuve d’inscription, preuve de paiement de frais de scolarité ou preuve de votre statut d’étudiant).

  • Processus de recrutement

    Les candidatures seront évaluées de façon continue. Les candidats qualifiés :

  • Seront contactés sur la base des critères de sélection.
  • Devront remplir et soumettre des formulaires de contrôle de sécurité.
  • Participeront à une entrevue de groupe virtuelle.
  • Seront invités à une évaluation de langue seconde par le Centre d’évaluation linguistique de la Chambre des communes.
  • Les candidats retenus seront offerts un emploi de guide parlementaire après la réussite de l’entrevue, de l’évaluation de langue seconde et de l’attestation de sécurité.

    New guides receive paid training, with sessions covering :

  • Parliament’s history.
  • The Canadian legislative process and the role of parliamentarians.
  • The art and architecture of Parliament.
  • Interpretive techniques.
  • And more.
  • Qualifications

    Eligibility Criteria : Candidates must :

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Be bilingual in English and French. Parliamentary Guides provide tours in Canada’s two official languages, so applicants must be able to speak both fluently.
  • Be considered a full-time student at an accredited, Canadian, university for the current or upcoming school year. Students studying at a Canadian college or CEGEP who hold a university degree are also eligible.
  • Be able to work a variable schedule up to 7 days per week and up to 70 hours per pay period including weekends and statutory holidays.
  • Selection Criteria

    Candidates are assessed and selected for interviews according to the following criteria :

  • Relevant experience (interpretation and guiding, customer service, public speaking, etc.).
  • Range of experience (employment, volunteer and / or extracurricular experience in client services, interpersonal skills, teamwork, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Interview Criteria

    Group interviews are held virtually. Candidates are assessed according to the following criteria during the interview :

  • Superior oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professionalism and judgement.
  • Creativity, adaptability, confidence, and a capacity to engage.
  • Initiative, focus, and teamwork.
  • Ability to speak clearly, coherently, and accurately, and to convey and understand a message easily in their second language.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian legislative process and the history of Parliament.
  • Additional Information

    Parliamentary guides are required to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions. Weekend work is a requirement of the position. The following documents (in PDF format only) must be included with your application, to be uploaded in the additional attachments box on the second page of the application form. Confirmation of university student status (proof of registration, proof of tuition payment, or proof of student status issued by an accredited Canadian university).

    Applications are evaluated on an ongoing basis. Qualified candidates :

  • are contacted based on the eligibility and selection criteria.
  • are asked to complete and submit security clearance forms.
  • will participate in a virtual group interview.
  • will be contacted for second language testing by the House of Commons Language Assessment Centre.
  • Successful candidates are offered employment as a Parliamentary Guide following a successful interview, second language testing, security clearance and reference checks.
