About Nithview Community :
Nithview Community is a seniors' community designed to provide several types of accommodation and services. Residents are able to choose the type of accommodation that is most appropriate for their care needs and continue to live within the community of care as their needs change. Emphasis is placed on assisting residents to live life to the fullest in this dynamic residential setting.
About the Position :
The Recreation and Volunteer Services Lead is a player / coach role who works in a team-based environment to coordinate, facilitate and deliver recreation programs for Long Term Care residents. The Recreation and Volunteer Services Lead reports to the Executive Director but will collaborate and work closely with other members of the Leadership team, such as the Director of Care, Resident Life Coordinator, and Director Nutrition Services.
Wage : 24.30-28.17 Hourly
Qualifications :
- A post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, gerontology or other related field from a community college or university, or equivalent is required
- Ability to organize work, and provide leadership to a team of recreation assistants and volunteers
- An energetic, compassionate person who enjoys working with the elderly
- Knowledge and experience providing tailored recreational programs utilizing the five areas of need; "physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual” supporting residents interaction, emotional state, and sense of spiritual connection
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
- Competency in Point Click Care an asset
- Knowledge of community resources and enthusiastic about building, supporting and engaging in the local community
- Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Position / Sector Screening (VPS);
- Current Standard and / or Emergency First Aid and CPR Certification
- Food Handlers Certificate is an asset.
