About Child and Family Services of Western Manitoba
Established in 1899, Child and Family Services of Western Manitoba provides programs and services to support families as well as protect children who reside in Westman communities. Child and Family Services of Western Manitoba seeks to provide best practice through a collaborative, family centered, culturally safe, and strengths-based approach to serving families. Practice innovations guide the Agency’s work to improving outcomes of safety, permanence and wellbeing for children and families.
Volunteer Board Members :
The CFS Western Board is made up of up to 14 members plus the past president all from diverse backgrounds and geographical areas to represent our catchment areas that we serve. You need to be a member to apply. Our members are community-minded individuals who all want to make a difference in the wellbeing of a child or family and live in southwestern Manitoba. To become a member, refer to our membership page. Low annual fees of $10 for one year or $25 for three years.
Board Responsibilities :
- Helping to steer the Agency into the future by adding to the vision focus and direction
- Establishing goals and objectives
- Determining impact of the Agency in the community
- Setting priorities for program development that best meet client needs
- Participating on Board sub-committees as necessary
- Attending occasional special board workshops as planned
- Board meeting are held monthly from September through June
You’ll be asked to complete an application form, a Criminal Record check, Child Abuse Registry check, and Prior Contact check.
