Job title: English Tutor (face-to-face role)

•Location: Stanmore/ Kenton

• Contract Type: Self-employed

• Hours: 1-2 hrs a week

• Start Date: July 2026

• Time: weekday evenings or weekend mornings

• Pay: £40-50 an hour depending on experience

About the role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed face-to-face English teacher to deliver engaging, high-quality lessons to small groups of KS2, KS3 and KS4 classes. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, teaching and marking work. For those teaching KS4 exam classes, this will be in line with the AQA GCSE English Language or Literature specification.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured lessons that motivate and challenge students.

• Teach the GCSE English curriculum effectively, with a focus on skills based teaching.

• Mark and assess work at least once a half-term providing clear and constructive feedback.

• Support students in developing key exam skills

Requirements:

• A recognised teaching qualification (e.g.: PGCE)

• Strong knowledge of the GCSE AQA English language and literature curriculum.

• Organised, reliable and able to plan effectively

• Experience of examining will be desirable.

• An up-to-date DBS
