Job descriptionProfessional designation required (CPA or equivalent) Completion of CICA In-Depth tax course Minimum 7 years’ experience, including experience with an international mining company Strong knowledge of Canadian and international tax regulations, including Ontario mining taxes A passionate subject matter expert willing and able to work independently on multiple projects / tasks with varying degrees of complexity Strong collaboration skills required with colleagues at all levels of the organization Excellent communication skills and ability to convey complex technical issues to senior management.
Role Overview : Reporting to the Global Head, Tax, the position is an integral part of the Finance team responsible for tax compliance, planning, and reporting.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage the compliance process, including preparation and filings for federal, provincial, and mining taxes in Canada.
- Oversee tax compliance matters arising in international offices,
- Prepare quarterly and annual tax provision calculations and determination of uncertain tax provisions in accordance with IFRS and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Manage relationships with tax advisors and consultants,
- Manage internal and external tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities and prepare necessary responses and documentation.
- Work with advisors on transfer pricing matters.
- Oversee indirect taxation compliance matters
- Other duties as required.
