Background
The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) is the national voice of municipal government. FCM’s Green Municipal Fund (GMF) supports municipalities to adopt sustainable practices and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. GMF provides funding, resources and training to improve air, water, soil quality and climate outcomes, including work on transportation assets, buildings, waste reduction and land reuse. FCM administers GMF and the Partners for Climate Protection program, a network of municipalities working to reduce GHG emissions.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Component (80%) : Working with FCM’s Corporate Sustainability team and the Sustainability Working Group (SWG) on projects identified in the FCM Climate Strategy. Tasks include :
- GHG Inventory Management Plan
Consolidate and review Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions data (travel, procurement, waste, commuting, etc.).
Support research, benchmarking, internal analysis, and briefing materials related to climate targets and progress tracking. Assist with an internal sustainability scorecard.
Develop content and resources to support staff engagement in sustainability initiatives, including communications materials and onboarding.
Support the carbon offset process, coordinate with suppliers, and assist with maintaining the carbon offset registry.
