Position Summary :
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the Winter Break Sports Camp Instructor act as a role model and ambassador for McGill whendemonstratingthe benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle through a combination of participation and instruction of camp physical activities to children ranging from ages 5-15 years old.
Duties
- Participate in orientation for camp.
- Greet and welcome campers as they arrive at camp.
- Liaise with campers’ parentsregardingcampers’ specific needs and progress.
- Lead and supervise campers andfacilitatetheir participation during activities ( tag, dodgeball,soccerand other basic games)tocreate a positive and memorable experience for all participants.
- Design, plan and coordinate activities to meetobjectiveswithin an established operating schedule.
- Assistwith specialist led activities ( aquatics, tennis,martialarts, basketball).
- Know,enforceand follow all safety guidelines and understand all emergency procedures associated with the camp and communicate all issues requiring attention to Section Leadersimmediately.
- Ensure safe movement of campers from one activity to another throughout the sports complex.
- Monitor environment to ensure safety of campers and report any issues with campers and / or facilities to camp administration and report or contact the Winsor clinic staffin the event ofany incidents requiring immediate medical attention
Other Qualifying Skills and / or Abilities
High School Diploma with one year of relevant experience in the field of work.
Currently enrolled in a McGill undergraduate or graduate program.Bilingual inEnglishand French.
Selected candidates must successfully pass their criminal background checkin order tobe considered for this position.
