Summary / Job Scope

We are looking for a proactive and detail‑oriented Electrical Engineering Co‑op Student to join our team at our cement manufacturing facility in Bowmanville, Ontario. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in a heavy industrial setting, supporting the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of electrical systems that are essential to plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems including motors, drives, switchgear, and control panels.
• Assist in the design, development, and testing of electrical components and systems.
• Support the implementation and troubleshooting of PLCs, HMIs, and other automation systems.
• Participate in electrical design and drafting using software such as AutoCAD Electrical.
• Help update and maintain electrical schematics, documentation, and asset records.
• Conduct research and analysis to support engineering decisions.
• Contribute to energy efficiency and reliability improvement initiatives.
• Help develop and update preventive maintenance procedures and documentation.
• Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and instrumentation teams on cross‑functional projects.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and assist in preparing technical reports.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and electrical codes during all work activities.

Note : This job description may not cover all duties and requirements and may include additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Note : This role is temporary for a maximum period of up to 1 year, with requirement where student must work at least 35 hours for a minimum of 12 weeks. The position is based out of Bowmanville, Ontario.

Please note that the Bowmanville site is not easily accessible via public transit. Student will need to ensure transport to and from the plant in line with agreed schedule.
