TEMPORARY STUDENT SUPPORT WORKER
The Greater Essex County District School Board invites application packages from persons qualified for the position of Temporary Student Support Worker.
Responsibilities :
Must be available for day-to-day casual replacement and long-term assignments at various school locations throughout the City of Windsor and Essex County.
Support teacher(s) with the preparation of learning materials necessary to assist identified students.
Ensure the safety and supervision of students by using proper lifting techniques.
Implement Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) in compliance with Board Policy and training.
Provide supervision of identified students in and around the school.
Support and ensure the dignity of students with their personal needs.
Demonstrate a commitment to and documented success in working to create a fair, inclusive, anti-racist environment for all stakeholders, and to supporting diverse constituencies and populations.
To work in consultation with the school-based team, implement and monitor programs that have been developed which support academic / cognitive skills, social skills, gross and fine motor abilities, communication skills and vocational skills.
Assume other duties / responsibilities related to student needs as determined by the Principal.
Rate of Pay : $21.89- $29.91 an hour, plus 4% vacation pay.
Qualifications :
Applicants must possess a minimum of a Grade 12 Diploma.
Preference will be given to those applicants holding certificates from an accredited college for the successful completion of the following programs :
Educational Assistant Diploma
American Sign Language and Deaf Studies or American Sign Language Interpreter
Developmental Service Worker
Child and Youth Care
Early Childhood Educator
Experience and / or other related specialized training and / or certification in field.
Possess demonstrable experience and competence in dealing with special needs students in a school or residential setting.
