Our client, located in Hamilton, is seeking an Insurance Litigation Associate Lawyer to join their team and provide specialized legal expertise in insurance defense litigation. This role focuses on managing a diverse caseload, supporting client needs, and contributing to the firm's reputation for excellence.
Job Responsibilities :
Handle a wide range of insurance defense cases, including property insurance, coverage, fraud, and subrogation.
Conduct legal research and draft detailed documents to support litigation.
Attend discoveries, mediations, and court appearances to advocate for client interests.
Provide strategic legal advice to clients with a commitment to professionalism and ethical standards.
Collaborate with team members, including associates and clerks, to ensure efficient case progression.
Participate in weekly department meetings to review caseloads and strategies.
Engage in professional development activities to stay informed of legal trends and practices.
Assist in the preparation and presentation of training materials or seminars as needed.
Perform additional related tasks as assigned by senior management.
Skills / Knowledge Requirements :
Minimum of 3 years of post-call experience, with a focus on insurance defense litigation.
Expertise in property insurance, coverage, fraud, or subrogation is a significant asset.
Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently while managing multiple files effectively.
Proficient in legal research and drafting tools, with strong technical skills.
Prior experience in defense litigation is required; plaintiff-only experience is not a fit for this role.
Willingness to work on-site initially, transitioning to a flexible arrangement as workload permits.
