Who We Are :

Scarborough Transit Connect (STC) has been awarded the design and early works of the Scarborough Subway Extension project. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools, and other key destinations throughout the city.

As part of the Scarborough Transit Connect project, we are looking for a Soil and Groundwater Coordinator to join our Scarborough Subway Extension Project.

What You Will Do :

• Ensure project requirements of environmental due diligence deliverables related to soil and groundwater are met in a timely and professional manner, including data collection, analysis, and presentation, as well as the development and implementation of submittals such as health and safety plans, quality management plans, traffic management plans and environmental management plans
• Supervises and inspects environmental aspects of transit infrastructure construction projects, particularly soil and groundwater management, dewatering, contamination management in compliance with environmental regulations. At times, collecting soil and groundwater samples and submitting to laboratories as required.
• Identifies deficiencies with sub-consultant / sub-contractor work, ensuring ongoing adherence to STC contracts, applicable environmental management plans, and project terms of reference.
• Reviews and evaluates contractor submittals and adherence to the construction contract and compliance with applicable environmental regulations for Soil and Groundwater Manager approval.
• Communicates the progress of site-specific programs and projects to Managers and other senior staff.
• Coordinates and communicates on-going works with the STC Project team to support internal stakeholders on environmental risk, contamination, excess soil management, contamination claims, spill clean-up and compliance related topics.
• Liaises with project delivery teams and other internal departments to advance transit projects in accordance with overall project schedules.
• Provides an internal knowledge base of legislated environmental standards, regulations, guidelines, and best practices and determining potential impacts to Metrolinx programs and assessment.
• Supports the Environmental Team in overall approach for STC undertakings and application of Regulations such as O. Reg. 153 / 04, O. Reg. 347, O. Reg. 406 / 19, O. Reg. 490 / 09.
