The Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, Department of Paediatrics, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry (Schulich), Western University, is seeking an Academic Neonatologist. Candidates having trained in a Level III or IV NICU for Neonatal Neurocritical / Neurodevelopmental Care, training in research methodologies in clinical research and / or quality improvement methodologies and experience in developmental follow-up will be given priority. In addition to clinical, educational and scholarly activities in the Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and Developmental Follow-up Clinic at the Children’s Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) he / she will actively contribute to the undergraduate and postgraduate education, and research programs of the Division. The successful applicant will also serve as a mentor for our undergraduate medical students, paediatric residents and Neonatal- Perinatal Medicine Subspecialty Fellow / Residents.

The Divisional members work closely in clinical, teaching and research with members of the Departments of Paediatrics () and Obstetrics & Gynaecology (). Collaborative research is also done with scientists at the Children’s Health Research Institute (CHRI) () and with imaging scientists from the Robarts Research Institute and the Lawson Health Research Institute. The High Risk Obstetric Unit, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and the Children’s Hospital, at LHSC, are state-of-the art programs and facilities (). They are tertiary care centres for high risk maternal, fetal and newborn care for Southwest Ontario and serve a population of over 1.8 million with an annual birth rate of 20,000. Candidates for this position must have an MD or equivalent degree and must be eligible for licensing in the Province of Ontario. Subspecialty certification in Neonatal Perinatal Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent is required. The successful candidate will hold a full-time Limited Term Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor / Associate Professor, or a Continuing Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, depending upon qualifications and experience at the time of appointment.The successful candidate will have a strong interest in neurodevelopmental research including new imaging technologies, and collaborate with neuroscience and imaging researchers in MRI and Ultrafast ultrasound in the Children’s Health Research Institute, Department of Medical Imaging, Robarts Research Institute and the Brain and Mind Research Institute of Western University.
Compensation for this position will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience and will be primarily composed of an alternative funding plan and academic salary.
